The second day's lesson in an Islamic South Asian country was on prayer. One pastor, Samuel, was able to share the teaching that very night at an evening service in his hometown. Many were so excited to hear his teaching that they kept saying, "Praise God, please teach us more."
Later that same night, after the service, Samuel went to visit another woman who was staying at her parents' house. She was having a problem with her husband who had mistreated her. Samuel asked her why she wasn't praying for her husband. She replied, "I am too depressed, and besides, I do not even know how to pray, so I don't pray." The pastor shared what he had learned earlier that day about prayer. The next day the woman's mother told Samuel that her daughter was fasting and praying for her husband. The woman was praising God as well.
Upon hearing this story at our next session, Ethan, the national coordinator for this country, pointed out to the students that when you learn biblical truth, God wastes no time in bringing you people who need to hear it! Praise God!
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is the second largest Muslim nation. Ninety-seven percent of Pakistan’s people follow the Muslim faith. Turmoil, instability, and internal strife reign in Pakistan. Christians are frequently subject to persecution and oppression due to Pakistan’s strong anti-blasphemy laws.
Despite the great need, the majority of pastors and leaders have little biblical training or equipping available to them through traditional schools or seminaries. Yet, the church is growing, and believers are effectively reaching out to others.
BEE World has translated six courses into Urdu thus far. This has all been by hand and is available in print only. We are working to translate the rest of the courses as well as get them ready to be available on the Internet Biblical Seminary.
In spite of the many challenges of this country, the Lord continues to expand BEE’s contacts in Pakistan. A number of ministries are examining how to utilize our curriculum and multiplication model.
BEE’s solid biblical curriculum model for multiplication and ability to be transferred “under the radar” are ideal for equipping leaders coming out of other religions.
